Join us at IAHM for a night of poetry, music, and mysticism - celebrating the life of Ireland's greatest poet, William Butler Yeats. Composed by Joseph Sobol and originally performed in 1993 at Chicago's Bailiwick Repertory, In The Deep Heart's Core tells the story of Yeats' life through his own poetry. Not merely recited, these selections are brought to life through an authentically Irish musical score.
In the Deep Heart’s Core is a musical event of transcendent power, which will be a particularly unforgetable experienced here at the Irish American Heritage Museum's Flanagan Theater, Albany's most intimate venue. In the Deep Heart’s Core is a brilliantly autobiographic and deeply moving telling of the journey of W. B.Yeats - truly one of Ireland's most beloved and iconic poets - through his romantic imagination and the national soul of Ireland. Yeats moved through dreams and heartbreaks; he ultimately arrived at a place of spiritual triumph.
In the Deep Heart's Core features a stunning original musical presentation of many of the best-loved lyrics in the English language - with the brilliant singing, playing, and storytelling of composer Joseph Sobol, original pianist Beth Falcone, and a new band of extravagantly talented young singers and string players, Elisa Winter on vocals and cello, Isabella Simon on vocals and fiddle, and Steven Czajkowski on vocals and guitar.

B. Yeats." The Chicago Tribune called In the Deep Heart's Core, "A joy - poetry to the ears, alternately tender and rousing." The Irish-American News said In the Deep Heart's Core was "simply not to be missed."
