To celebrate Women's Christmas, celebrated in Ireland on the 6th of January, this month's film club will be Agnes Browne, starring and directed by Anjelica Houston.
The unexpected death of her husband sends a woman and her seven children, into emotional turmoil and financial crisis in 1967 Dublin. An honest, funny and affecting portrait of a 1960's Dublin widow determined to give her seven children the best education and life possible, as she and her friend work together at a local market. It won the Youth Jury Award at the 1999 San Sebastián International Film Festival. It also received a Grand Prix nomination at the Ghent International Film Festival the same year
This film will be shown at the Michael Flanagan Irish Music Heritage Theater in the museum. Admission is $5 per person.
