The Irish American Heritage Museum is honored and excited to welcome for the first time to IAHM's Flanagan Theater no stranger to New York, Seán Dagher!
Seán is widely known for his recordings with the Assassin’s Creed video game series, including Black Flag. Seán's renditions of sea shanties and other songs from the games have been streamed some 70 million times! Seán's own "Shanty of the Week" video series receives thousands of views each week, and has a loyal following the world over.
Sea shanties have been garnering a resurgence in popularity in the last few years, with Seán being one of the most popular artists worldwide in the genre. During this performance, Seán takes his audiences on a seaward journey through worksongs interspersed with a few sea-themed ballads, accompanied by Seán on the Irish bouzouki. Audiences will be invited to sing the "crew" responses to some of the most popular songs in the genre, bringing everyone together for a community experience of singing and hollering!
No previous shanty-singing experience is necessary. “Bad singers” are not only welcome, but they are quite necessary for the authentic shanty'd experience!
