Kevin Burke, one of the great fiddle players in the history of Irish music, returns to IAHM's Flanagan Theater, this time as part of yet another trad powerhouse supergroup. Kevin's bow has driven the Bothy Band, Patrick Street, Open House and Celtic Fiddle Festival. Awarded a National Heritage Fellowship in the United States, and in Ireland the prestigious Gradam Ceoil Award, Kevin brings to IAHM performances of flawless and brilliant fiddle mastery. As the guests witness the virtuosity, the do so feeling it is in the comfort of their homes - with Kevin sharing humorous stories of the tunes and their makers. Kevin is a treasure, an absolute delight, and truly memorable. Kevin’s easy and welcoming manner leaves the audience feeling like privileged guests, and with a richer understanding of this great tradition.
In whatever context - be it guesting with Dervish or Lunasa, with Christy Moore, in a band, or solo - Kevin’s fiddle is a dynamic melodic force, the voice of the master.
Kevin’s art defies imitation.
Dylan Foley has been described as one of planet Earth’s GOAT Irish fiddlers. Dylan has been delighting audiences throughout the world, from performances at Lincoln Center to Irish television channel programs (RTE; TG4). In 2013, Dylan travelled to Vietnam with the late Mick Moloney as part of Irish Aid, bringing Irish music and culture to those who were affected by the horrors of the Vietnam War. Dylan teaches and performs at major Irish music summer camps on both sides of the Atlantic. Indeed, Dylan gives informances around the world where he attributes his energetic, infectious and fluid style of playing to New York legends Rose Conway and Joanie Madden, and the late greats Mike McHale (Greene County) and Monsignor Charlie Coen. Dylan is also known throughout the country for his commitment to passing on the Irish tradition as it was graciously passed to him. Daniel Neely of The Irish Echo has said of Dylan: “[…] one of the finest fiddlers in America and certainly the most genial among them […] his feel and tone breathtaking […] He pulls brilliant music from the fiddle.”
Eamon O'Leary is a songwriter/singer/recording artist from New York’s Lower East Side, originally from Dublin, Ireland. Eamon started playing Irish music while growing up in Dublin. When he moved to New York City in the early 90’s, Eamon immersed himself in the city’s traditional music scene and travelled widely, performing with many of the great players in Irish music. In 2004 he and fiddler Patrick Ourceau released the album Live at Mona’s. Eamon has taught at many traditional music programs around the world and also records and performs original music, most recently at Swannanoa Gathering's Celtic Week. Eamon's first album All Souls was entirely self-written and recorded with Jefferson Hamer (Anais Mitchell), and Benjamin Lazar Davis (Cuddle Magic, Joan As Police Woman, Okkervil River). All Souls - which has been described as "a beautiful, sparse album of darkness and light" - highlight O’Leary’s musical talent and his knack for writing heartfelt, poetic lyrics. Eamon's recent recordings of note include The Alt with John Doyle and Nuala Kennedy, and The Immigrant Band, a joint old-time and Irish endeavor with John Doyle, John Herrmann, and Rafe and Clelia Stefanini
