2022 Annual Maureen Farrell McCarthy Amateur Irish Soda Bread Competition

It's that time of year again!  Our annual amateur soda bread competition is back, and will be held on Saturday, March 5. Bakers will drop off their loaves between 12 and 1pm, and the winners will be announced at 3pm.

The competition involves two categories: traditional white flour soda bread, and family (not strictly traditional) Irish soda bread. Competitors may only submit one recipe for each category but may enter both categories. Two soda bread loaves from exactly the same recipe must be entered for any category in which an entry is submitted:  one for display and one for the judges to examine and to eat. Entries must be accompanied by a recipe form (which you can download HERE). You can type or handwrite your recipe in the form. Two copies of the recipe must be submitted with each entry (one for each loaf). Do not email or mail your forms to the Museum--you must bring them with you when you drop off your loaves. The baker’s name must NOT be on the recipe form.

It is $10 per entry (only one entry per category) and you may enter one or both categories. Use the form below to register, and select the appropriate fee.

Prizes to be announced shortly!

Complete contest infomation, forms, tips, and more are availble in the Competition Overview and Guide.
